*A History of the Eton Collar:
In the mid-19th century Eton College was the place to be if you were a priveleged, well-connected young gentleman in England. Acceptance into the prestigious university, was extremely hard to achieve and once accepted, they wanted it to be known. All they needed was a way to distinguish themselves and the subtle way to communicate this is be through attire.
The Eton badge of distinction was a variation on the dress collar. By rounding the tips, the 'Etonians' created a style of their own that set them apart and announced their place in a most exclusive “club.”
